Susen Edwards is a lifelong New Jersey resident with a uniquely fitting story—she has called not one, but two “White Houses” home. She grew up in Whitehouse Station and now lives in the historic Joseph and Minnie White House in Middlesex Borough, once the residence of renowned photographer Margaret Bourke-White.
Susen earned her B.S. in Education with a minor in English from East Stroudsburg University, followed by an M.A. in Professional Studies and a graduate certificate in online teaching from Thomas Edison State University. Her commitment to lifelong learning has led her to explore a wide range of interests, including professional development, massage therapy, real estate, and creative writing.
Alongside her husband, Bob, Susen co-founded the Somerset School of Massage Therapy—New Jersey’s first state-approved and nationally accredited postsecondary massage therapy institution. Their entrepreneurial success earned her a nomination by Merrill Lynch for Inc. Magazine’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award. After selling the school, she continued her work in education as an administrator at Middlesex College.
Deeply involved in her community, Susen currently serves as secretary of her local library’s board of trustees and as president of the Friends of the Library. A dedicated animal lover and environmental advocate, she enjoys yoga, cooking, reading, and writing.
Today, Susen lives with her husband and their cherished cats, Harold and Maude, in their beautifully restored historic home—continuing to share her passion for learning, creativity, and community service.
